Artist Statement

J. Nicholas Corich constructs a relationship between photography and printmaking used to exhibit the inherent beauty of nature. The choice of processes and imagery aim to raise consciousness about our surroundings that we have taken for granted. The prints aim to evoke feelings of identity and genuineness lost through convention and consumer-intended design. An emphasis has been placed on hand-rendered and computer-aided techniques in opposition in order to elevate the overall sense of illusion.

The imagery is in support of a generation growing more aware of the natural world around them, and in turn, the use of nature in art. The eco-friendly movement will be reflected in the artists and their patrons as it continues to grow.
